Bat Trang pottery village is located along the banks of the Red River, about 10km from the center of Hanoi, in Gia Lam district, Hanoi. The name Bat Trang is interpreted by locals as "big yard". With a history dating back to the Le dynasty, this is the oldest known pottery village in Vietnam, which is considered as the cradle of traditional pottery.
